MINUTES
Downtown Plainview Main Street Coordinating Board
Date: Monday, August 1, 2022 - 1 1:30 a.m.
Board Members Present: Ranada Jack, Carol Terrell, John Turpen, Diane Martinez, Macrina Greve,
Cynthia Gregory, and Phyllis Wall.
City of Plainview, Downtown Plainview Main Street representatives: Melinda Brown and Tori
Huddleston.
Guests: Kristi Aday, EDC Director, Tonya Keesee, ex-officio member representing the Plainview
Chamber of Commerce, and Susan Blackerby, City of Plainview Mayor Pro Tem.

John Turpen motioned to approve the July minutes. Carol Terrell voiced the second, and the
motion passed with a 7-0 vote.
3. Consider tak4ig necessary Ac[ion on IDowntown Map Ifs rec1ion
Melinda Brown asked the Board to look at the downtown map project's Who, What, When,
Where, Why & How.
Who: the Board wants to seek a marketing agency to create the projected map. They want to
start with the Historic Commercial District.
What: the Board wants to include a classic design, directory, website presence & future kiosk.
When: the Board would like to see the map role out in 3-6 months
Where: The Board wants to use a QR code for map connectivity and print copies at the
Chamber, downtown, and local businesses, including motels and hotels.
Why: the Board has been tasked by requests to create a map for marketing & tourism
How: the Downtown Plainview office will connect the specifics and bring a proposal to the
Board.
Diane Martinez motioned to approve Downtown Plainview staff to seek a marketing firm proposal
for the Downtown Map project. Cynthia Gregory voiced the second, and the motion passed with
a 7-0 vote.
4. Friends of IDowntown 1:3�..)dget IRevlew
Tori gave a financial overview reporting the available Friends of Downtown balance of $15,710.23
5. Conslder and take necessary %icNon on proposed Friends of IDowntown SponsorsNp t..)pdates
Jay Givens, Friends of Downtown Sponsorship committee chair, shared the updates and changes
to the Friends of Downtown Sponsorship packet. The packets will be mailed out on Monday,
October 17, 2022, and accepted for the 2023 budget through mid -January.
Carol Terrell motioned to approve the Friends of Downtown Sponsorship packet as printed for
distribution. Cynthia Gregory voiced the second, and the motion passed with a 7-0 vote.
