A RESOLUTION OF ~ CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING
A CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF AN ANIMAL
SB~.~ER AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS FRC~ REVENUE
SHARING.
~, in 1965, the PlainvieW City Council passed an ordinance
for the safety, health and welfare of the CitiZens of Plainview which
regulates the owning and conduct of animals within the incorporated city
limits; and
WHEREAS, the present Animal Shelter was built with a planned
usefulness of five to ten years and at the present time, the City's
Animal Control operations have exceeded the capacity of this structure,
and the present Animal Control structure no longer meets state
requirements and must be replaced; and
~, the Plainview City Council recognizing these problems
began in 1975 set aside Revenue Sharing Funds each year to construct an
animal shelter for the City of Plainview; and
WHEREAS, plans and specifications where drawn and on February 9,
1983, five bids were received and opened for the construction of said
she lter:
WHEREAS, White and Prutzman Construction of Plainview submitted
the low bid meeting all specifications in the amount of $124,900:
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVfD by the Mayor and City Council
of the City of Plainview that for the continued health safety and
welfare of the citizens of Plainview, it is now necessary to construct a
Animal Shelter for continued enforcement of the Animal 'Control ordinance
and that the contract for construction of said shelter be awarded to
~aite & Prutzman Construction in the amount of $124,900, and that these
funds be appropriated from Revenue Sharing to cover the cost of said
construction.
