A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER
INTO AN ~ WITH THE STATE OF TEXAS DEPART-
MENT OF HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION FOR THE
INSTALLATION OF THREE (3) TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES ON
AND ALONG /NTERS~ 27 WITHIN THE INCORPORATED CITY
LIMITS.
WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Highways and Public
Transportation is requesting that the City of Plainview enter into an
agreement with them to allow the state to prepare plans and
specifications, and install traffic signals on and along Interstate 27;
and
WHEREAS, the State of Te~%s will operate and maintain said
traffic signals and pay all power cost for operation of the signals and
the Highway Department will not incurr any financial obligation with the
City of plainview as results of installation of said signals; and
~R~REAS, tb~ City Of Plainview will be responsible for the Police
enforcement required for securing obedience to the highway traffic
signals:
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT resolved by the Mayor and City Council of
the City of Plainview, that the Mayor be authorized to enter into an
agreement with the Texas Department of Highways and Public
Transportation to locate traffic signal at the intersection of
Interstate 27 services roads and U.S. 70 west of Plainview and install
two (2) flashing beacons, one being at the intersection of Interstate 27
and S.H. 194, and temporary connection at North Loop 445 Interchange;
and that the City incurrs no financial obligation during the life of
this agre~t.
