A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS
ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT
TO ATKINSON & WOFFORD BEING THE LOWEST AND BEST BIDDER
FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A FIRE TRA/NING FACILITY.
WHEREAS, by City Council on July 12, 1983, the City Staff was
authorized to advertise for bids for the construction of a fire training
facility to be constructed adjacent to the Sub-Station at 10th & Quincy
Streets; and
WHEREAS, on August 17, 1983 at 3:00 p.m., three bids were received
and reviewed by James ~obinson, Project Architect and the City Staff;
and
WHEREAS, it is the rec~Lendation of the Architect and Staff that
the construction contract be awarded to the lowest and best bidder that
being Atkinson & Wofford taking Alternate 91 being a deduct of $16,000
which would make their construction contract a total of $71,440;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVSD by the Mayor and City Council of the
City of Plainview that the bid of Atkinson & Wofford be accepted taking
the deduct of Alternate 91 for a total of $71,440, and the Mayor be
authorized to sign on behalf of the City the Construction Contract.

Addition to Quincy Street Sub-Station, lOth and Quincy, Plainview,
Texas, having examined the plans and specifications with all nec-
essary tools, apparatus and implements, and do all work, furnish
all materials and items called for by the contract, plans and spe-
cFficat[ons and~that which is stated below, in accordance with the
contract documents for the sum as stated below. These sums are to
cover all expenses incurred, of which this proposal is a part.

materials, and equipment to complete the construction in accord-

the amount of the bid of the said Principal and the amount for which the Obligee legally contracts with another party to perform the work
if the latter amount be in excess of the former, but in no event shall liability hereunder exceed the penal sum hereof.

Dear Mr. Hatchel:
For your consideration, I would recommend that you
take the base bid of White & Prutzman ($85,6]3), shou d
funds not be available, then ' recommend that you con-
sider the bid of Atkinson and Wofford. I also recommend
that 'you only take Alternate No. 1 (a 0educt of ($16,000)
which would make their construction contract for $71,444.
I do not recommend that you take Alt. No. 2 for the reason
that the installation of the inter'or doors and frames re-
quired some what mere skill and time than the average lay-
man is qualified to do. Also the doors are necessary for
the control of the air conditionin§ ststem.
