RESOLUTION NO. 83-634
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF PIAINVIEW, TEXAS
JOINING WITH THE COUNTY OF HALF., ACCEPTING BIDS AND
Ak~RDING A CONSTRUCTION CON~fRACT TO PECAN VALLEY
EL~C CO, INC. FOR THE INSTALLATION OF A
MEDIUM INTENSITY RUNWAY LIGHTING SYST~4 AT THE
HALE COUNTY/PLAINVIEW AIRPORT.
WHEREAS, the City of Plainview and the County of Hale has
authorized Parkhill, Smith & Cooper, Inc., a consultant engineering
firm, to develop plans and specification for a medium intensity
runway lighting system at the Hale County/Plainview Airport; and
WHERF~, the proper advertisement was made and bids received
on September 8, 1983 at 2:00 P.M., and three bids w~re received; and
WHEREAS, after comparisons and review by the engineers, the
bid of Pecan Valley Electric Co., Inc. from Brownwood, Texas in the
amount of $79,903.50, is recommended as being the lowest and/or
best bid;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council
of the City of Plainview, Texas, that the City join with the County
of Hale in awarding a construction contract to Pecan Valley Electric
Co., Inc. for the bid price of $79,903.50, for the installation of
a medium intensity runway lighting system at the Hale County/Plainview
PASSED AND APPROVED this the 27th day of September, 1983.

Bids for Lighting Improvements
Hale County Airport

Dear Mr. Roberts:
This letter concerns bids for lighting improvements at the
Hale County Airport that were received on September 8, 1983.
Three bids were received,-with the low bid of $79,903.50
being submitted by Pecan Valley Electric Co.~, Inc. A copy
of the bid tabulation accompanies this letter.
The experience record submitted by Pecan Valley Electric
Co. indicates that they have considerable experience on air-
port lighting projects. Pecan Valley Electric Co., Inc.
appears to be Well qualified to perform the work on this
project, and we understand that funds are available for the
project. We therefore recommend that a contract be awarded
to Pecan Valley Electric Co. with the award being contingent
upon approval by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
As we understand it, a contract needs to be awarded on this
project and a grant executed by September 30, 1983 due to
the FAA fiscal year ending on that date.
