R84-674 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIE~, TEXAS, EXERCISING THE OPTION GRANTED TO A GOVERNING BODY OF A TAXING UNIT NOT TO EXEMPT AUTOMOBILES FROM TAXATION AS PROVIDED IN HOUSE BILL 1060, TAX RELIEF AMENDMENT, ACTS 1979, 66TH LEGISLATURE OF TEXAS, REGIILAR SESSION. WHEREAS, House Bill 1060, Acts 1979, 66thLegislature of Texas, Pegular Session, amended Article 7150.3 Texas Revised Civil Statutes, to exempt autc~obiles frcmtaxationby the governing body of a taxing unit in the State of Texas; and WHEREAS, House Bill 1060, Acts 1979, 66thLegislature of Texas, Regular Session, grants to any governing body of a taxing unit the option not to exempt autcmobiles from taxation; and WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, that it would be in the best interest of said .municipality that autcmobiles not be exempt from taxation in this zncorporatedmunicipality; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Plainview, and pursuant to the authority granted to the governing body of a taxing unit by Article 5, Section 1, House Bill 1060, Acts 1979, 66th Legislature of Texas, Pegular Session (Article 7150.3, Section 2 (B) autc~obiles shall not be exempt from taxation by this municipality; and BE IT FURTHERRESOLVED THAT, the Tax/Assessor and Collector of the City of Plainview, Texas is hereby ordered and directed to continue the assessment, levy and collection of taxes on automobiles in this municipality until such taxation is precluded by law orby order of the City Council.
