RESOLUTION NO. R84~691
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PLAINVIEW, TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF. POLICE
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF'PLAINVIEW'TO FILE A
GRANT APPLICATION FOR LAW ENFORC~4ENT ASSISTANCE
FROM THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION OF THE GOVERNOR'S
OFFICE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS'.
WHEREAS, Grant funds are available through the Criminal Justice'
Division of the Governor's Office of the State of Texas to provide
assistance to law enforcement agencies to combat-the, increase of
criminal activity; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department currently is receiving funds to
provide for a Crime Prevention Unit consisting of one police officer,
and the expiration of the current grant is August 30,1984; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department is in need of funds to continue the
program for the next fiscal year, and funds are available to continue
the pro.gram:
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE Mayor and City Council of the
City of Plainview, Texas that the Police Chief 'be Authorized to execute
and submit a grant application for the above described-program to pro-
mote continued improvement of law'enforcement within the City of
Plain.view.
