HomeMy WebLinkAboutR84-717 RESOLUTION ~©0 ]!~93 or THE CITY COUNCIL OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, AUTHORIZIN THE OF ^ TEXAS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM APPLICATION TO TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS AND AUTHORIZING IHE MAYOR TO ACT AS THE CITY'S CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND AUTHORIZED REPRESENIATIVE IN ALL MATTERS PERTAINING TO THE CITY'S PARTICIPATION IN THE TEXAS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM. WHEREAS, the City has identified a need related to revitalization of a low/moderate income neighborhood; and WHEREAS, the provision of water improvements and sewer improvements will assist in meeting such need; and WHEREAS, it is necessary and in the best public interest that the City avail itself of the Texas Community Development Program for Small Cities under Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended; and WHEREAS, the City of Plainview intends to commit local and/or other federal revenue sharing funds to match with Texas Department of Community Affairs funds to complete said project; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview desires the Mayor to act as the City's Chief Executive Officer and Authorized Representative; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS: 1. That the City submit an application for a Texas Community Development Program grant under the terms and conditions of the State of Texas and agree and understand the assurances contained in said application. 2. That the City Council endorses the activities as set forth in said application and more fully described above. 3. That the City commit $40,000 of local funds to be matched with Texas Community Development Program funds to be used for administration costs and sewer improvements. 4. That the City Council directs and designates the Mayor as the City'.$ Chief Executive Officer and Authorized Representative to act in all matters in connection with this application and the City's participation in the Texas Community Development Program.
