A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS
SUPPORTING THE EFFORTS OF AMARILLO, TEXAS
TO SECURE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S SUPER
CONDUCTING SUPER COLLIDER PROTECT FOR THE
PANHANDLE OF TEXAS REGION.
WHEREAS, there
Government,s Super
Amarillo, Texas and "Happy Site,,; and
WHEREAS, the Collider is a necessary project for the
advancement of science and human kind; and
WHEREAS, this project will provide jobs for our people and
will help the Economic Development of our area; and
WHEREAS, this project would have 3,000 permanent employees
including scientist and engineers, and have visitors from all over
the world; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Government would spend $3 to $6 billion
to construct the project and over $200 million annually to operate
such; and
~EREAS, the City of Plainview would benefit greatly from the
construction of the project at the "Happy Site,,; and
WHEREAS, the City of Plainview believes such economic
development would be good for our citizens and the project
beneficial to the entire Region.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Plainview, Texas, that the Citv of p ' '
