M. FIRST ITEM ON THE AGENDA: SWEAR IN MEMBERS; Mark Hazdin was administered the Oath of Office by James Crossland. SECOND ITEM ON THE AGENDA: Approval of January 2008 minutes. L motion to approve minutes as presented. Fred Willis seconded the motion. Motionld~ unanimously. THIRD ITEM ON THE AGENDA: BA Case # 1546 The request of Reynaldo Cortez for a variance of twenty (20) feet of the required twenty-five (25) foot front setback as stated in Section 34 of the City of Plainview Zoning Ordinance to construct a 19'X21' canopy in a Single Family Residential (R-2) Zoning District, and being Unit #5, Lot 19, Block 6, Thunderbird Addition, Plainview, Hale County, Texas the same being 1414 W. 26th Street. John Castro told the board the canopy is a carport. Ray Cortez is present to answer questions from the Board. John Castro showed the Boazd pictures of the property ;end a site plan of where the proposed carport would be located. There were three (3) responses received from the neighborhood; all were in favor of the variance request. Larry Gould asked if the poles be outside the existing driveway. Ray Cortez said it would be a prefabricated c must be properly anchored and the piers would be inspec:tedby the building departrrientCazFroed Willis asked if the carport would be inside the existing sidewalk and John Castro said it would. Fred Willis made a motion to approve the variance based on this being the only logical place for the carport and the positive responses from the neighborhood. Max Browning seconded.
