RESOLUTION NO. R08-180
A Resolution of the City of Plainview calling and setting the date for the
Regular Municipal Election; Setting two twelve hour days for early voting as
required by Section 85.005 (d) of the Texas Election Code; Designating
districts and polling places for Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7; Designating the
election of a Councilmember for Districts 5, 6 and 7 respectively; Designating
the election of a Mayor At-Large; And posting Notice of Election.
WHEREAS, in accordance with the statutes of the State of Texas and the Charter of the
City of Plainview, an election shall be held in and for the City of Plainview; and
WHEREAS, the election shall be held on the second Saturday in May, 2008, the same
being May 10, 2008; and
WHEREAS, Section 85.005 (d) of the Texas Election Code states that in an election
ordered by a city, early voting by personal appearance at the main early voting polling
place shall be conducted for at least 12 hours: (1) on one weekday, if the early voting
period consists of less than six weekdays; or (2) on two weekdays, if the early voting period
consists of six or more weekdays; and
WHEREAS, all persons qualified to vote in said election under the Election Laws of the
State of Texas shall be allowed to vote therein.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1
In accordance with Section 85.005 of the Texas Election Code, early voting by personal
appearance at the main early voting polling place shall be conducted for at least 12 hours
on one weekday, if the early voting period consists of less than six week days; or on two
weekdays, if the early voting period consists of six or more weekdays. The 12 hour
election days for the May 10, 2008 election will be Monday, April 28, 2008 and Monday,
May 5, 2008.
SECTION 2
All electors shall vote in the voting district in which said voter resides, and at the polling
place provided for voting as designated in Section 3 of this Resolution.
SECTION 3
The election shall be held in the designated district within the City, at the designated polling
place within the district as designated below:

SECTION 5
Notice of this election shall be given in accordance with the provisions of the Texas
Election Code and returns of such notice shall be made as provided for in said Code.
