Gentlemen:
Attached is an agreement for the installation or upgrading of railroad
crossbucks and other related signs and pavement markings on county roads
and city streets within your jurisdiction. We have made an inventory of
all railroad crossing devices and found many do not meet requirements as
specified in the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. We pro-
pose to let a contract for placing the devices, using available federal
funds, with this department handling the inspection. Projects of this
nature are in progress throughout the State of Texas.
Please sign the agreement and return as soon as pqssible, so .that a con-
tract can be let in February. You will note in the agreement that you
will not be required to fund any part of this project, but please read
the agreement carefully so you will be aware of all the details related
to the proposed work.
If additional information is needed, please contact Mr. William M. Pope,
District Maintenance Engineer, P.O. Box 771, Lubbock, Texas; telephone
number 806-745-4411. Your prompt attention in this matter will be apprec-
iated.
