A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PLAINVIEW, TEXAS'ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING A
PURCHASE CONTRACT FOR SEAL COAT MATBRAILS.

WHEREAS, there exist a need to purchase 2,000 cUbic yards
of gravel and ~0,000 gallons of liquid asphalt for the spring
seal coating program; and
WHEREAS, the invitation for bids were duly advertised; and
WHEREAS, there were four bids submitted for the gravel and
two bids submitted to the liquid asphalt; and
WHEREAS, the lowest and best bid for the gravel was submitted
by Hale County Sand & Gravel of Plainview, Texas in the amount of
$24,640; and
WHEREAS, the lowest and best bid for the liquid asphalt was
submitted by Diamond Shamrock of Amarillo, Texas in the amount of
$44,724; and
WHEREAS, Diamond Shamrock has stated that this price will be
firm through July 1, 1981; and
WHEREAS, $70,000 was budgeted for seal coating materials:
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY the Mayor and City Council
of the City of Plainview, Texas to:
SECTION 1: Accept the bids on the gravel and the liquid asphalt.
SECTION 2: Award a purchase contract in the amount of $24,640
for 2,000 cubic yardsof gravel to Hale County Sand
and Gravel of Plainview, Texas.
SECTION 3: Award a purchase contract in the amount of $44,724
for 6D,,iOD~ gallons of liquid asphalt to Diamond
Shamrock of Amarillo, Texas.
PASSED AND APPROVED this the 14th day of April, 1981.
