A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW,
TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE PREPARATION OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS
AND THE ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS FOR THE MATERIALS NECESSARY
TO UPDATE AND INSTALL TRAFFIC SIGNALS AT THE INTERSECTIONS
OF HIGHWAY 70 AND DATE, ASH, BROADWAY, AUSTIN, JOLIET, AND
ENNIS STREETS.
WHEREAS, to protect t~e health, safety and welfare of the citizens
of Plainview it is necessary to update the traffic signals located at
the intersections of Highway 70 and Date, Ash, Broadway, Austin, Joliet,
and Ennis Streets; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Highways and Public Transportation
prefers that the signals be updated and/or installed prior to the letting
of the contract for improvements of Highway 70; and
WHEREAS, the time constraints makes it necessary to proceed with the
development of the plans and specifications, and the advertisement for bids
for the materials necessary to update and/or install traffic signals at
the aforementioned intersections; and
WHEREAS, the cost for purchasing the materials necessary to update
and/or install traffic signals at these intersections is estimate at $94,000:
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of the
City of Plainview, Texas to authorize the preparation of plans and specifi-
cations and the advertisement for bids for the materials necessary to update
and/or install traffic signals at the intersections of Highway 70 and Date,
Ash, Broadway, Austin, Joliet and Ennis Streets.
