A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE C~TY OF PLAINVIEW,
TEXAS ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR THE PAINTING
OF TWO (2) ELEVATED WATER TANKS.
WHEREAS, by the adoption of Ordinance 81-2456, the City Council
of the City of Plainview authorized the advertising and receipt of bids
for surface preparation and painting of two (2) 500,000 gallon elevated
water tanks being located at 1300 S. Date Street and 3600 N,.Quincy Street
with funds allocated from Revenue Sharing; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance 81-2456 passed on September 29, 1981 authorized
the .painting of two (2) 500,000 gallon water tanks and appropriated funds
entitlement 13 of the Revenue Sharing funds; and
WHEREAS, the invitation for bids were duly advertised; and
WHEREAS, the City of Plainview received two bids on April 20th,
one being from Lupton Painting Co. of Shawnee, Okla. with a base bid
of $49,000 and an alternate bid of $35,000, and the second bid being
from Water Tank Service Co., Inc. of Dallas, Texas with a base'bid of
108,000~and the alternate bid $96,000; and
WHEREAS, after review of these bids, the Staff has determined that
the lowest and best bid is Lupron Painting Co. in the amount of $49,000
which will make the following improvements to the storage tanks:
a) Tighten sway braces
b) Brush-off blast cleaning
c) Repaint exterior of tank
NOW., THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE Mayor and City Council of
the City of Plainview, Texas that a contact be entered into between the
City of Plainview and Lupton Painting Co. of Shawnee, OK, in the amount
of $49,000 for surface preparing and recoating of elevated water tanks
located at 1300 S. Date and 3600 N. Quincy Streets and payment be made
from Revenue Sharing.
