A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCl-L OF ~ CITY OF
PIAiNVIEW, TEXAS AOCEPTING BIDS AND AUTHORIZING
A PLSK/qASE AGBRMM~qT TO ~A~NALL OF PLAINVIEW
FOR PURCHASE OF POLICE VEHICLES.
WHERE~, in 1978 the City of Plainview purchase a fleet of 28
police vehicles and assigned police officers individual patrol units for
their use twenty-four hours a day either on or off patrol duty. This
program bas been very successful because of tb~ high visibility of the
Plainview Police Units and the ability to assign responsibility of the
care and maintenance of vehicles to an individual; and
~EREAS, the present police fleet has accrued enough mileage
wb~re maintenance is becoming a budgetary item worthy of the City
Council's attention and it is felt that in the best interest of
continued good law enforcement within our cormwanity the time has arrived
to get rid of the 1978 model fleet and acquire 28 new vehicles; and
%EqEREAS, the specifications for 28 new vehicles were drawn and
duly advertised and on Wednesday, September 15, 1982, at 10:00 a.m. all
bids received w~re op=~ned:
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of
the City of Plainview, Texas that the purchase of 28 o~=w police vehicles
be awarded to Maggard-Nall and the lowest and best bid m~eting
specifications in the amount of $260,109.00 with the City keeping the
old vehicles for sale at a later date and preparing a lease purchase
agreen~nt with one of the local financial institutions for payment over
a three-year period.
