RESOLUTION NO. R88-151
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PLAINVIEW, TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE PERMANENT REMOVAL
OF STREET LIGHTS IN "UNIT 2", ON BROADWAY STREET.
W~F. REAS, the City of Plainview has been reviewing street
lighting throughout the City; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted a policy which states that
the primary purpose of street lights is traffic safety; and
WHEREAS, various areas throughout the City have more than
adequate lighting for traffic safety purposes allowing the City to
discontinue some lights, in some areas, in the interest of cost
savings; and
WHEREAS, one such area is identified as Unit 2, and designated
on the attached map; and
W~F. REAS, approximately 21 lights are being proposed for
permanent discontinuance which will result in a net savings of
$3,715.00 per year for the City of Plainview; and
WHEREAS, while final cost figures have not been provided by
Southwestern Public Service, history dictates that the cost
associated with removing said lights, less salvage value, will allow
the City to experience a savings within twelve to twenty four months.
NOW, TB~WF. FORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Plainview, Texas that the street lights identified on the attached
map, "Unit 2", are to be permanently turned off and removed.
